Droylsden VS Forest Green
I'm posting this bet early because I think the odds might fall a bit before this game on saturday.
I've been following Forest Green for a good few weeks now and in particular the goalscoring ability of their star striker Stuart Fleetwood. I'll get to him in a minute though. Forest Green (currently 6th in BlueSq Premier) are enjoying a 10 match unbeaten run that stretches back to September 22nd (when they last lost a game). Tonight they have just knocked out Rotherham (currently 4th in League 2 and on their own 5 match winning run and 8 game unbeaten run) from the FA Cup, winning tonights replay convincingly 3-0 (Fleetwood scored 1) away at Rotherham after originally drawing 2-2 at home. They are the best ranked form team of the BlueSq Premier with their form over their last 8 games reading....P8 W7 D1 L0 GF23 GA9 and last week thay played Histon who were ranked the 2nd best form team of the league.....and beat them 3-1. (Fleetwood netted twice!)
The thing is about Forest Green - they can score goals. In every game of this recent 10 game winning streak they have scored at least 2 goals! 28 Goals in last 10 games! (Fleetwood scored 16 of those 28!)
This saturday they play away at Droylesden....who are 2nd bottom of the league with only 7 points and will be heading out of this league at the end of the season. Only the truly dreadful Northwich Vics are preventing from Droylesden from propping up the table but Droylesden are nearly as bad. Just one win and 4 draws for Droylesden so far and although 2 of those draws have come in their last 2 matches I dont think they will be troubling Forest Green and their attacking prowess. Who knows though....I'm not gonna back the away win anyway at best price 1.9. Not when Droylesden have conceeded in EVERY single match they've played this season. In fact in over 50% of their 19 league games they have conceeded 3 or more goals !!!In 75% of their matches they have conceeded 2 goals or more!!
So I reckon Forest Green will be scoring in this game, maybe even 2 or 3 times and I cant see 21 year old Fleetwood not scoring. He started his career at Cardiff as a 12 year old and made appearances for Wales at Under 21 level. A car crash brought an end to his time there and he signed for Hereford in January 2006 and made a good start, scoring four goals in five league games. He featured as a substitute in the Conference play-off final win over Halifax Town, and subsequently signed a new one year contract.
He made a promising start to the season by scoring Hereford's first league goal since 1997 and a further goal against Chester. In the Carling Cup he bagged a hat-trick against Championship side Coventry City, becoming the first Hereford player to score a hat trick in a League Cup tie, and was also called up to the Wales U21s. However his form escaped him after missing several matches due to contracting a virus, which caused him to lose nearly a stone in weight. In January 2007 he was sent out on a month's loan to fellow League Two club Accrington Stanley. He made just three first team appearances after the turn of the year for the Bulls, and was released at the end of the season.
He signed a one year contract with Forest Green at the start of this season and after realising his potential is now already being courted by bigger clubs for a move in Jan. He is obviously a cut above this league.
Fleetwood should surely be odds on to score in this game. He's netted 22 league and cup goals (plus another couple in a FA Cup qualifier v Eastleigh on 30th Oct) in 21 matches and has improved as the season has progressed. He has netted in 9 of his last 11 matches and has netted twice or more in a match on 9 seperate occasions. Oh, and he takes the penalties.
To put it simply......he's on fire!! ..... and on saturday he plays against one of the league's worst defences.
Tonight he was 3.5 to score at Rotherham, last saturday he was 2.5 to score against Histon, He was 3.0 to score against Ebbsfleet 10 days ago ..... There's still value in the 2.1 for this saturday and if he doesnt score (which obviously could happen) just get on him in his next match, and every match whilst he's still playing in this league.
Good Luck................
